Early in the morning we will be at the full moon peak with Moon in Purva Ashada reflecting the Sun in Ardra. In the Vedic calendar, this is considered the most auspicious full moon of the year when the Moon is full in Sagittarius and represents our teachers showering their blessings on us.
However, I usually take a more modern stance and translate this as our inner teacher has the ability to awaken us and bless us with right action. Our “practice” awakens our inner teacher and establishes this teacher-disciple relationship. The teacher is our highest self and the disciple should be our ego and limited way we identify in the world. Often we have it backwards in this modern realm so we need mirrors for us to project onto and for them to project back to us so we can see what we cannot see. Thus, the awakening journey or path.
Purva Ashada is the shakti of invincibility, as long as we are aiming directly from our heart with pure intention. There is guaranteed victory with that purity. But it isn’t so easy to know the true heart, so we need a practice (yoga).
A few other considerations in this timeline:
Mars is now in Leo, out of disability, and with great strength. Our willpower, courage returns and our ability to flex and transcend…misconceptions, ego-identification to our opinions and beliefs.
Venus is in Cancer with Ashlesha, bringing us closer to our emotions, especially through our relationships. You can expect this to be about emotional security and attachments through others. You can work with this by inquiry: Where is home? (It is in your heart, not in another.) As Venus goes through the gauntlet of gandanta, expect there to be some rocky days ahead for some of us.
Ardra, where the Sun is, is a fierce nakshatra and is represented by one drop. We might find that we are pushing our agenda too hard to try to get our way. Where Purva Ashada is also associated with Apas, the boundless ocean. This full moon is concerned with the whole ocean vs. the one individual drop. Bigger picture vs. smaller goals. This is holistic wisdom at play in Sagittarius full moon. Let it have you.
Jupiter in Bharani, conjunct with Rahu, has a strong influence on all of this as well. Jupiter reflects that inner teacher as well as hope, optimism and wisdom. You can feel supported in this desire for inner growth and understanding who you truly are.
Blessings to you on this full moon (Guru Purnima) and I hope you showered with the blessings of all your teachers through all of space and time.
