Watch the Recap Video of Weekend Under the Stars:
Today the Moon transits Krittika, in Taurus. It is a New Moon, meaning the Moon is conjunct with the Sun (which is also with Krittika Taurus).
Krittika is the third nakshatra of the Zodiac and is represented by the symbol of the knife, and represents the cutting away. By some accounts, this is considered the first nakshatra as the cord is cut, the first breath is taken, the prana activates the inner astrology and the karma of this particular soul begins to unfold for this particular lifetime. Before the first breath, the karma was connected with the mother.
Krittika means “to cut away,” and that can mean several things. We can see the cutting away of the incubation and incarnating as a soul to fulfill its sanatanadharma. But we can also see it throughout life as cutting away in various forms. Cutting away bullshit is the most common way to notice it. Sometimes it looks like inner critic. Starting a quest, a path, where you have to cut away the old circle of influence for a period of time. Things like that.
I chose this picture of Krittika because although the people who are strongly influenced by Krittika can sometimes sound harsh, inside they are soft. One image is a knife slicing through butter that is room temperature. They are always sorting out what needs to be cut away…and then doing so. Without a lot of guilt or overthinking. It is more matter-of-fact-like for them. Not entangled, although there are always exceptions to this.
Maybe they are cutting the cord from the weight of the world that came before with Bharani, so they can prepare for what comes next in Mrgashira, the searcher. They need to spend time here lightening their load and preparation for this search for the nectar of immortality that they can feel coming on deck soon.
Krittika is ruled by the Sun, and the deity Agni, the fire. We see a lot of interest in cooking, nourishment and feeding others with this archetype.
When Moon transits Krittika, like it is doing today, you might find you ready to lighten your load.
Today, this is this New Moon, which is the time for planting new intentions. For Krittika, this is the ripe time to cut away that which has been weighting you down.
At the retreat I hosted two weeks ago on the Full Moon with Vishaka, it had come to fruition then and in the two weeks since that I was initiated into a new journey, a new path and I had taken my initial steps onto it.
Yesterday, almost at the exact time Moon entered Krittika, I found myself in a new state where I literally, with a friend/energy healer, cutting away old ties and establishing true connection through this body. It really was quite something. I like to share these tidbits with you, without going too much into it, so you can look for these nuggets in your life. Right now, things are amplified for me so don’t look for that magnitude, just look for the gist of the lessons I share. And FEEL the truth of it for you. Honor that truth by feeling it completely and being humbled about the amazing adventure you are on, here and now, on Earth!
A few years ago I chose songs for each of the nakshatras based on how I was feeling them during that time. Here is what I picked for Krittika and I think I’d choose it again:
Would love to hear if this resonated for you, and how.
This hit me right in my heart. And the song!!! I have always felt something very personal about it and have cried buckets watching City of Angels. And here we are - in a very challenging time in my life, holding the knife, still crying buckets. As you know I am Krittika. I think it is time for a 1:1 as my emotions may be clouding the way in this present period. Maybe as they should be. Maybe for cleansing. A good time for some guidance.
Happy new moon. And I want to know more about this new path sparked by the healing session! I have Mercury with Krittika in my 7 th house. It has taken many years to stop myself from criticizing myself and my wife. The antidote is appreciation. So, I really appreciate you sharing this information in such an easily digestible way.
