Friends, as I continue diving into the astrology for the week, know that I’ve found it particularly hard for me to write. I was talking yesterday how tamasic Chitra nakshatra is, and it takes great effort or force to move in an opposite direction. I’ve found that to be true over the last couple of weeks as I approached writing this blog series.
So…I’m writing anyways.
Even if the words don’t flesh out in a smooth way.
I’m dropping breadcrumbs so you can flesh it out in the way that best works with your experiences and consciousness.
If you haven’t read part 1, you can read it here.
Today, I’m sharing about the new moon on Saturday and tomorrow I will write more in depth about the eclipse cycle.
The new moon is with Chitra nakshatra. I always look at the current new moon in relationship to the prior full moon, and vice versa. The next full moon, I’ll look at in relationship to this Chitra new moon… the ebb and flow of our light.
This last full moon that is sliding into this new moon was the moon cycle that is related to our ancestors and those that came before us. I subscribe to the belief that our ancestors are alive and well within us and their stories that were undigested in their lifetimes are trying to find a way to be digested in this present moment.
As we enter Chitra season, and eclipse season to boot, this seems more apparent to me.
On a microlevel, within my community, family and friends and my own life, I can see how some sort of awakening is moving through our lives. It is like there is a clearing out of energy blockages, and as that moves through, there is more clarity and understanding left as the residue.
If I take that to a larger scale, let’s say nature, we have seen countless earthquakes, flooding and wildfires happening over the past weeks, in a way, preparing us for what was coming. Asking us to open our eyes wider.
And then this week, we have the atrocities between Hamas and Israel, and these innocent bystanders used as weapons and retaliation. This is a tale as old as time and through this lens, the tale of ancestors stories seeking their way into the light of this present moment.
I stand for humanity, and peace, and the right for each person to their place on Our Shared Earth.
(This was worthy to listen to.)
Chitra nakshatra is about reflecting light, and the many facets of light in many colors. We have to use discernment to figure out the quality and meaning of what is being shown. Instead of looking at things as simple-minded as black or white, right or wrong, we are being called to discern that it is black AND white, right AND wrong, and all the shades in between. I’ve spoken about this many times so I’ll let that dog rest.
Chitra is reflection and through our efforts made to go against the heavy and dense tamasic nature of Chitra, through our right-actions, thoughts and words, we earn accumulation of merit. That is the promise of Chitra, the accumulation of good merit.
What if we were to understand that if we are the “seer” of the atrocities, and not the deliverer of the atrocities, we are the ones responsible for applying the healing medicine and balm? Yes, others are “doing the thing” but we are here seeing and judging the thing. Discernment is different than judging. Using discernment, we don’t assign blame which is destabilizing and debilitating, with discernment we shift the narrative we are projecting in our sphere of influence.
How do we do this?
Good question. That is what this new moon and solar eclipse are teaching us.
We make one decision and take one step at a time. We see, hear and feel the thing. Let ourselves grieve the moment, hold space and peace for those involved this play, understanding that nature is working itself out, create boundaries and make decisions that serve humanity and All People’s Rights to their place on Our Earth.
One of my mentors talks about the great life lesson of the Chitra nakshatra and it is that Chitra always brings a shattering of illusion. It breaks the mirage and we have to see what we were hoping wasn’t true.
This new moon, we have Sun, Moon and Ketu all with Chitra. During a new moon and especially a solar eclipse (which only happens at the new moon), the light of the sun is eclipsed by the Moon.
The Sun is a metaphor for our ego, personality and sense of personal self so on the new moon, oftentimes, unless we are an avid meditator (and maybe even then) we do not feel good about things. In some way the light is diminished so we can see into the darkness. Now, this isn’t bad. We must look at the shadows in our lives and consciousness in order to do better; in order to see what blocks us from being of service. And we do this at the new moon times each month. This allows us to plant new seeds of intention that spout later.
So I ask you, over these last two weeks, or even the last years, what have you learned is yours to do? Have you identified some blocks in doing that thing of service? Now is the time to be intentional as you move forward. Let the ancestors work out their stories through you instead of keeping their secrets hidden. We can honor our ancestors by lifting the veil and freeing them to have their own history or herstory, good AND bad, as it actually was without shame or judgement.
I have three amazing opportunities to be in community over the next few days, that can help with navigating challenging times:
Oct 12: Sound Healing Ceremony
Oct 13: Cacao Ceremony with Sound Healing
Oct 14: New Moon Women’s Circle
