The upcoming Full Moon is called Guru Purnima, and it happens each year when the Full Moon is happening in Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, also known as Guru.
This is considered to be the most auspicious Full Moon of the year, when, if we can surrender our belief systems and mindsets of our ego, access our humility, reverence and our commitment to journey deep within our own hearts, we can receive divine guidance of epic proportions. The yogis always spoke with supreme hyperbole and I love it. It calls us to take steps in the direction we might avoid otherwise. It lures us to evolve, tempting us with tales of blessings.
I don’t know about you, but I’m all in for blessings right now. We could all use a good blessing or two. Or a good spanking. Maybe both.
This Full Moon is in Uttara Ashadha nakshatra (star), which makes for an extra nice Full Moon. The Vishvadevas, the deities presiding over ten directions of the world, are also called the "lightworkers", or bringers of light and inspiration. They help us open our minds for broader perspectives and inspire us to be more receptive for the Divine blessings. They strengthen our connection with the Divine.
(You might look at your chart, I know a lot of my clients and charts I read have a prominent placement with Uttara Ashada nakshatra.)
It is believed that on Guru Purnima Full Moon, which occurs at exact degree at 2:37pm on Wednesday July 13, even if you glance just once at the Moon and remember the Divine, some of the deepest wishes of your heart will be fulfilled.
On Tuesday, July 12th, 6-7:30pm, I’ll be leading a special Restorative+Yin Yoga + Yoga Nidra to prep us for receiving the blessings of Guru Purnima. You can sign up here and drop-in to class (those in the series are already signed up).
