Total Solar Eclipse 2024

Today we are week away from the total eclipse. Listening to the news, it is all focused outward, on the eclipse of the Sun. There is a lot of interesting alignments that has to happen for a total eclipse to happen. First the lunar nodes have to be aligned with the area of the zodiac where the Sun is. Then the eclipse happens as the Moon comes directly between the Earth and the Sun on a new moon, and voila…an eclipse. However, there are some other interesting tidbits to note in relationship to the size of the the Sun and the Moon and the distance from the Earth that allows for the Sun to be eclipsed.
108 Suns fit between the Sun and the Earth. Likewise, 108 Moons fit between the Moon and the Earth. And that sizing is thought to be part of the phenomenon that allows the Sun to be eclipsed, along with the lunar nodes. To be clear, the scientific astronomical details are not my wheelhouse. Please don’t go bet the farm on this, however I find it very interesting to contemplate the awesome structure of the cosmos.
In Jyotisha, the Science of Light, the outer is just a reflection of the inner. What is really important is how we are getting eclipsed.
So much of the world is structure around not being grounded in our own inner being. It was reported in the news that more than a billion dollars is expected to be spent on the eclipse sight-seeing. A billion dollars!
The true eclipse is looking for what is being eclipsed within you. The outer is just a reflection of the inner. And the outer has one basic “look,” whilst the inner is unique in as many individuated souls (people) there are.
We are born and at that time we are imprinted with a karmic blueprint that unfolds and reveals itself throughout our lifetime. There are certain lessons we are here learning, cycles within cycles. Sometimes we need to repeat lessons many times before we understand.
We are conditioned and changed by our environment (epigenetics) and the people around us. Yet, at the core of who we are and how we are expressing in this lifetime, is a basic truth and lesson. We are here to fulfill our heart’s desire…but the heart’s desire is from a bigger sense of self. It isn’t our plain ole egoic heart’s wants and likes. It is something deeper.
Take a look at this very amateur diagram I made as I talk alignment.
There is the You living this life, which I’m referring to as the Earth. You are here on Earth. This represents your physical body and certain areas of life that are in play, some more in the hot seat than others.
There is the Moon, which I’m referring to as the Mind but this is the Big Mind which is comprised of every moment of every lifetime, not just this lifetime (not a conditioned sense of self but something bigger).
And then there is the Sun. This is indicating the bigger sense of You, the part that never dies.
Each month during the New Moon and Full Moon these line up, we set intentions and try to create alignment.
During the Eclipse season, they line up with the Lunar Nodes, also known as the karmic axis. The North Node (Rahu) shows our soul’s yearning and journey, and the South Node (Ketu) is showing what our soul perfected in the past.
Based on this, you can begin to understand what is getting eclipsed within you, is so that the soul’s yearning and also the soul’s perfection can move into the foreground. We are finding alignment in this little portal for something more true to be revealed.
Conditioning and old habits, beliefs, patterns are getting eclipsed so your true self can emerge just a bit more with that innate knowing of who you are and why you are here.
