Uttara Bhadra | The Lucky Feet
Moon in Uttara Bhadra + Krishna Navami (9th lunar day after full moon)
Through writing these overviews of the nakshatras this past month, I’ve learned that the trilogy of the Saturn nakshatras really appeal to me: Pushya, Anuradha and today Uttara Bhadra. It is interesting as I do not have any planets with these nakshatras and Saturn is debilitated in my chart.
Where Pushya is divine mother, Anuradha is a divine friend, Uttara Bhadra is really as close to divinity as we may get. Yet they are like an alien in many ways. They don’t fit in with the rest of us, they can seem ethereal or like a space cadet - very much an ‘airhead', and you get a sense that they are just a visitor here on Earth. We probably don’t see them as divinity as they are trying hard to figure out how to fit in here.
Uttara Bhadra has several symbols but the one to discuss today is the “lucky feet” or “twins” idea. It is as if they have one foot in this world and one foot out. One foot forward and one foot back. Sometimes they seem stuck in concrete and aren’t moving forward or backward. They disappear like a Loch Ness monster going underwater for long periods of time then popping back up without missing a beat.
They are learning the concept of both/and through the either/or of the heaven/earth duality. It seems their whole lives are about learning how to be both/and and though this lesson, they will fit in and see that they don’t have to choose.
But it feels like they have to choose most of the time, hence the disappearance act.
Uttara Bhadra shows descent of grace from above. It gives a firm foundation in life, protected from the depths. Through it’s descent of shakti of cosmic rain, it brings growth and prosperity. All needs are met. However, their needs are small as they have this “just visiting” way of being, they don’t keep a lot of stuff around.
When Moon transits Uttara Bhadra, like it is doing today, you might notice a desire go underground and check out for a bit, only to re-emerge tomorrow. (Or, notice how the cosmic rain is headed our way.)
And my song pick for Uttara Bhadra…

PS…Pushya for reference. And Anuradha.
PPS…I have a half-day retreat retreat this Saturday 9a-1p. It is focused on the New Moon, the Summer Solstice and Supporting Venus in our chart/lives. Venus represents what we love, it is our heart and our fourth chakra. When Venus feels out of balance, unsupported, we feel unhappy. This can happen with too strong of a Venus in our chart, combust Venus (too close to the Sun), debilitation, etc. It is amplified when Venus is in certain transits, as it is now and the next few months. We will work with supporting Venus. Sign up here.
